Frequently asked questions
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a treatment that skims the dead skin cells and hair from your facing using an exfoliating blade. It removes fine vellus hair or "peach fuzz" leaving your face feeling silky smooth. At SkinSculpt we combine this treatment with many of our facials and chemical peels which allows the product to penetrate deeper and leaves your skin more radiant and youthful looking!
Is Dermaplaning painful?
Dermaplaning is a low-risk treatment and should be pain free. The small blade glides gently across your skin removing just the dead skin cells and fine hairs.
Does hair grow back thicker or faster after Dermaplaning?
Contrary to what you may have thought, Dermaplaning does not make your hair grow back darker or thicker. Once the blade cuts the top off the hair straight across, it puts a blunt end on the hair. As the hair grows out, it feels different or maybe thicker because the end has a straight edge to it. It's actually the same texture and colore as before. It also grows at the same speed it had grow before. Nothing happens to the follicles, so the growth of the hair isn't changed.
How often should you Dermaplane?
To keep your fine facial hair, which can trap dirt and foundation on the skin, under control, we recommend Dermaplaning every 3-4 weeks. Each sessions of Dermaplaning removes about 2-3 weeks worth of dead skin cells. Our aestheticians can help you design a custom skin care regimen that's right for you!
